› seven deadly sins halloween soiree

welcome to the area of the site where you'll be able to find everything you need to know about this years shindig! every year we try to make the party a little bigger, a little badder, a little more awesome then the previous year. this year is no exception. we're only a few days into the process of planning, but i can tell you now that it's already shaping up to be pretty rad!

most of the updates and sneak-peeks i'll post over at my blog because it's ten thousand times easier then updating this site with pictures, etc. but i'm looking forward to posting contests, games, and secrets... so keep checking back frequently. who knows, i may post free stuff on here from time to time!

wanna win a $5 laurina.pastina merchandise voucher for the party? head to the bottom of the page to find out how!

› about the party

the very first party was already three years ago in 2007! that was when the party was used as a catalyst to introduce my first clothing line; LAURINA PASTINA. we called it 'THE LAUNCH PARTY', and because it was such a huge success, we decided to throw it again the following year in 2008. the second party was entitled, the 'MONSTER BASH', and we kept to a strict monster-themed decor. most of the pictures were taken in front of the wall-o-movie-monsters. this years' event was derived from a collaboration between me and my sister Arianna who's a budding photographer. her senior thesis in photo during her senior year of high school was to create a series of photographs/self-portraits based on the "SEVEN DEADLY SINS"; hence, the theme of this years' soiree!

COSTUME CONTEST

my favorite part of the evening is when everyone votes on their favorite costumes! each year the costumes have gotten more elaborate, which i love! halloween is a great time of year to prep my costume designing skills for the future!

this year, the contest has added a few more categories to its' roster:

MOST INVENTIVE - this year's answer to last year's most original... perhaps something a little different then your traditional Drac or Frank. like a washing machine, for instance.

BEST USE OF RECYCLED MATERIALS - a very current and up-to-date category considering the current state of our country. even though we're technically not in a recession any longer, this area is definitely suited for those who aren't inclined to picking up a $100 costume only to never wear it again. if you like your costumes homemade and from scratch; this is for you.

BEST COUPLE *OR* GROUP - formally a 'couples only' category, this year we've widened the spectrum to include friends and family who like to dress in theme. take for instance... The Addams Family *snap* *snap*

MOST FRIGHTENING - two previous winners in the original 'Scariest' category were Hannibal Lecter and The Exorcist. Beat that.

BEST FICTIONAL CHARACTER - if you're a fan of basing your costume on someone from a movie or book... we've finally found a place for you. this would probably include comic book and nintendo game characters as well... that is, unless you still believe they're real, like me. hey, i'm gonna stay on the lookout for my Edward Cullen.

BEST MAKEUP - a category i wanted to include last year; after i ordered the trophies. makeup is a huge factor in the process of bringing your costume to life. contacts and fake teeth can really transform a person, ya know what i mean?

BEST IN SHOW - no, this category isn't just for horses or dogs... it's for the Grand Poobah of costumes, the most Badass of them all... the guy or gal who really knocks your socks off with all the effort put forth into their costume. the other categories are for sissys.

...and of course...

PEOPLE'S CHOICE - the person who won last year didn't really fit into any other category, and justly so. he fit into a category all his own; PEOPLE'S CHOICE. here we like to award the person who just had that certain something... the 'IT' factor if you will. and of course the Tooth Fairy was everyone's favorite; where else do you wake up and find (extra large) money under your pillow for losing something? exactly.
